Huge congratulations to MullenLowe MENA's Prerna Mehra who has been recognised as one of the 10 most inspirational Women to Watch from 2023 by Communicate Magazine.
We’re thrilled to share that MullenLowe MENA’s Prerna Mehra has been recognised as one of the 10 most inspirational Women to Watch from 2023 by Communicate magazine! Communicate Magazine’s Women to Watch edition celebrates women who are reshaping industries and contributing to a more inclusive future, and as Creative Director and Head of Art and Design at MullenLowe MENA, Prerna has been fearlessly disrupting norms and driving transformative change within the creative industry.
Prerna kickstarted her professional journey in India working with leading advertising agencies. She took over as Creative Director and Head of Art and Design at MullenLowe MENA in 2020 and since then she has led groundbreaking campaigns and nation-building projects such as ‘The Emirates Mars Orbit Insertion’ and ‘The World’s Tallest Donation Box’. These campaigns earned her recognition on regional and international stages including Cresta, Webbys, Caples, Lynx and Gerety.
Prerna recently spearheaded MullenLowe MENA’s recent campaign-turned-movement ‘Fixing the bAIs’, which aims to tackle gender bias in AI by using AI itself. By using image-generating AI tools such as Midjourney, Dall-e, and Stable Diffusion, MullenLowe MENA created a huge image bank of women in different professions, which were then used to populate the public image datasets that are officially used to train AI. They are also constantly uploading these pictures to social media and other stock image sites. The goal is to teach AI to recognize that women can be doctors, astronauts, and CEOs, just as much as men can be dancers, nurses, or teachers. The aim is to not only fix AI’s bias but also break the gender barriers in professions and promote inclusivity.
When asked what advice she would give to young, aspiring women who are passionate about pursuing a career in the creative field, Prerna said “Be bold and unapologetic. You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone but yourself. Avoid complacency at all costs. Embrace continuous learning and dedicate time to tackling issues head on. Don’t settle for the safe option. Fight for your ideas because no-one else will”.
